Look .....
what our pear tree (planted last fall) gave us today:

It's about 3.5 inches tall and looks just like a real pear (okay, it is real, but you know what I mean, lol). And, miracle of miracles, WE got it rather than the birds (unlike our cherries, of which I don't think we've ever gotten a single one in 10 years!).

Message from PearLand: I've been canning pears for months from our two pear trees. Pear preserves, pear butter, pear liqueur, pear chutney and pear salsa. Whew. Hundreds upon hundreds of pears, a thousand hours of peeling and cooking and processing. Squirrels are major fruit thieves from peaches to pears to figs they love fruit, so watch for squirrels along with your birdies. Be thankful for one..perfect...pear! And next year may your bounty grow to one hundred.

    @ Pacian - don't know yet ;)

@ TaroPhoenix - I hope the 'bounty' does increase by next year (but I also hope to have the kitchen redone before it does so I can do all those lovely things with them). At the moment I am very thankful for JUST the one :)
